Traditions...

I love keeping up traditions and making new ones! I'm a nostalgic person and having an activity that happens every year makes me smile! Here are a few of my faves, some are silly ones and some are a little more special!

  • Every Father's Day, my Dad and I head to Fishy Fishy in Kinsale to indulge our love of seafood, we then go for a little wander around the pretty town and look at all the boats in the marina!
  • On Christmas Eve, my family and I get to open one present each before bed!
  • On Sunday's Leo and I always have an afternoon nap before he goes to work
  • Another of our traditions is to go for a little walk on the evenings we are both home and talk about our days
  • Around my birthday each year I treat myself to a little shopping trip and pampering day (best tradition ever)
That's about it for now! Happy Sunday everyone! xxx

Friendship

To be honest, this is a topic that I slightly dread talking about. I have had some major ups and downs with friends in my life.

I'm not here to dwell on the past, and I do not want to be accused of bitching about people on here and I like to keep this here piece of the internet positive and fun!

At the moment I am blessed with the group of friends that I have. Like most people, I definitely have a few different groups of friends which I love.

I have my real life friends from school/college. We all make the time to stay in contact and see each other when we can. I love that we are all busy and successful in our lives and that there is never any resentment if we do not speak for a few weeks!

I also have my work friends, wow what a gang of nutcases! When I started my current job, we were the last group to join during a massive hiring phase in my company. I was afraid that everyone would already have made friends and not want to know any of us newbies. Happily, I was very wrong about this! We are all on great terms now and we laugh so much during our work day which is great!

Finally, I have my online friends. Fellow bloggers, people who I follow on Twitter and Instagram and so on. What can I say, a great bunch of lads! We share so much of our lives together and yet are complete strangers, its amazing! I have met some people and found them as charming in real life as they are online and it is really great!

Friendships take work and I feel very blessed to have these special people in my life.

Pampering...

Oh I do love a pampering session! I definitely do not make enough time for it though!

I think everyone is guilty of having time poverty issues! So instead of reading about how I like to pamper myself, I encourage you to take the five or ten minutes to do something for you.

Put down the phone/tablet/laptop, close your eyes and take a few moments to step back and reflect on something positive.

Taking time for yourself, even just for a few minutes is the most pampering thing you can do!

Life's A Lesson

Hmm, life lessons eh? I try and learn something from every experience. I may not always remember the lesson later, but in the aftermath of something I tend to reflect on what I can take from it.

At the grand old age of 25, in the word's of Oprah, here is what I know for sure!

  • Row your own boat. Try not to take heed of what others are doing and what others think of you. This is something I definitely struggle with. I always look at Pinterest and think I should be a master crafting, paleo eating, super star baker. ALL OF THE TIME. I need to remind myself to step back and realise that it's not real. Strive for moments of perfection and embrace them when they work out.
  • Make time for love. Love is all you need, no matter what else you strive for in life, make time for love. Not just romantic love, but the love of friends, family and pets. The warm fuzzy feeling conjured from a hug from someone special can sure any ache and dry any amount of tears in my opinion.
  • Have fun. I am a very serious person, I take life very seriously and can sometimes be a little stiff.   I am lucky to have people in my life who remind me to let my hair down and live a little. It's okay to laugh, it's okay to tickle someone into convulsions of giggles, in fact, it's great! So go ahead and do it!
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in life so far?

Food Glorious Food

This post came up at a good time! I am baking for a team meeting that we have at work today so I thought I would share what I baked!

I made Oreo cupakes!

The recipe is from the wonderful Paula's Kitchen Table. Oreo's are on sale in Tesco at the moment so go buy them and then make these!
